If you use WooCommerce to power your eCommerce website and you use Interspire Email Marketer to manage your email marketing you have probably figured out by now that there are no extensions available in the marketplace to integrate the two. You can however solve this by purchasing and installing our Interspire User Subscription WordPress plugin.
After installing the plugin and activating it you will find a new menu option located under “Tools” for Interspire User Subscription. Enter this menu and input your IEM XML data. XML information is only visible to system admins of Interspire. If you are not a system admin you need to request your XML credentials from your system admin. If you are the system admin you can find your XML credentials (or those of any user) by visiting the user account and clicking on Advanced Settings. See image below.
Save your options at the bottom of the page and then navigate to the user type “Customer.” Select your contact list.
Wait a moment and all your custom fields will appear with drop down boxes. Associate each custom field from Interspire with a WordPress field. Please note, for First Name and Last Name, instead of using the WordPress field for Billing First Name and Billing Last Name, just use the default first and last name fields.
Save your changes.
Note, when a new user checks out on your website, WooCommerce first creates the user with the email address only. A few seconds after the transaction is finalized, WooCommerce updates the user profile with the rest of the data. For this reason it is important that you check the box that allows the WordPress plugin to update the user data in Interspire Email Marketer. If you do not check this box, each new customer will still be added to Interspire but with an email address only.
Also Note, if you have autoresponders setup on the list that send immediately when a new user is added you may want to leave the “update” checkbox unchecked. Otherwise your contact will get the first autoresponder twice. First when WooCommerce creates the user with email address only and then a second time when WooCommerce updates the user profile and our plugin creates a new contact in Interspire.
