Interspire Email Marketer and Google Analytics Integration

Google Analytics has long been the standard tool used by online marketers to measure and analyze website traffic. One of the critical elements of markting is knowing which of your advertising and marketing tools and sources is working. Email is part of that dynamic. Luckily, through Interspire Email Marketer you can easily track how much and what traffic is coming to your website from your email campaigns.

Google Analytics leveraged UTM code technology. UTM stands for Urchin Traffic Module. UTM codes are elements added to a URL to show the source. Within Interspire Email Marketer what “Google Analytics” integration does is to insert these UTM codes into your tracked links so you don’t need to add those tracking code manually.

“Google Analytics” itself must already be integrated on your website in order for the link to be tracked by Google (http://www.google.com/analytics/).

So for example you may have the following links in your email campaign:
– http://www.yourdomain.com/ourlocation.html

What Interspire does when “Google Analytics” tracking is enabled is to add these variables Google required to the link, so the link will become:
– http://www.yourdomain.com/aboutus.html?utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_campaign=campaignname&utm_source=campaignsource
– http://www.yourdomain.com/contactus.html?utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_campaign=campaignname&utm_source=campaignsource
– http://www.yourdomain.com/ourlocation.html?utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_campaign=campaignname&utm_source=campaignsource
