Exclude on Send and Import Support

Overview

Exclude On Send and Import lets you keep contacts off an import, campaign send, or autoresponder delivery when they already appear on another list or segment, or when they were emailed recently.

This guide is for the version updated for Interspire Email Marketer 8 (folder name excludelist).

Where to find it

  • Install/enable: Settings → Addon Settings (IEMAddons: Exclude List)
  • Options appear on import, campaign send, and autoresponder configuration screens after the addon is enabled.

Installation

Warning: Create a full file and database backup before installing or updating. See Support.

  1. Upload the excludelist folder to admin/addons/.
  2. In IEM admin, open Settings → Addon Settings, install IEMAddons: Exclude List, and enable it.

Exclude options

Wherever the addon appears, you typically choose one of:

  1. Do not exclude contacts: normal IEM behavior.
  2. Exclude using contact list(s): skip contacts that already exist on the selected list(s).
  3. Exclude using segment(s): skip contacts that match the selected segment(s).
  4. Exclude based on recency: skip contacts who received an email within the last N days.

Excluding during import

When importing contacts into a list, use the exclude section on the import page to avoid re-adding people who are already customers, recent recipients, or members of another list.

Example: importing leads while excluding your “Customers” list so existing buyers are not pulled into a cold-outreach sequence.

Excluding during send

When sending a campaign, choose lists or segments to exclude, or a recency window, so those contacts are not recipients of that send.

Excluding for autoresponders

Autoresponder configuration can use the same exclude modes so triggered messages skip contacts who should not receive that sequence.

FAQ

How many lists can I exclude when sending?

As many as you need for that send.

Is this compatible with every other addon?

Not necessarily. Ask before buying if you run custom or third-party addons alongside it.

Troubleshooting

  • Options missing: confirm the addon is installed and enabled.
  • Unexpected exclusions: check which mode is selected (list vs segment vs recency) and the day count for recency.
